West Central Alberta Coldest, wettest edge | I agree, the farmers are doing all they can, not blaming any of us for trying to pay the bills. Just trying to figure out what the logic is that we collectively are producing something at a loss, while simultaneously doing permanent damage to the soil costing future generations the ability to use that land. It's not like the world is starving for wheat and we need to plant it on every possible acre. It seems that every few months I see pictures of soil blowing posted on here, it's not a once in a lifetime event. I don't have a solution. If your invested in the land, infrastructure and the equipment, it would be tough to plant it all back to grass and still pay the bills. Don't want the government telling anyone what they can and can't grow. But there will again come a time when we need all the production earth can provide, and it would be a shame to have been degrading soil at a time when we are swimming in wheat.
