I work full time and more or less farm full time also.
After all prop taxes are paid, and all "contributing to the economy" is paid whatever profit is left Should be required to pay some income tax on that. The things you mentioned above are subtracted from your gross income so pretty much irrelavant. This law would allow you to profit 200,000$ and pay zero income tax. My average joe neighbor and his wife bring home 80k$ together and pay about 9500$ in fed income tax while you are allowed to make 2.5x that amount and still pay ZERO. You don't see the problem?! The government more or less gave you a 24k$ "welfare" check (in taxes you didn't pay). But I'm a farmer, I deserve it.
There is a poster on here who has a tag that could be inserted perfectly here; "ones temper tends to vary inversely with their knowledge of the issue."
