Subject: Re: waterway question

NE Mo
We have had the same situation Ed. Previous owner tried rock. We though we had it solved with some bales, and two years later it was worse than before. Asked some who have many waterways for suggestions, and they too thought the bales and rock would work. Real problem is, this farm has been no tilled since I purchased it more than 10 years ago. So no soil is leaving the slopes to fill in behind the bales!!!!!! So last month in came the bull dozer, reshaped it. It is now seeded and mulched. Only hope it holds. I really believe when the waterway was done originally, they failed to dig to the bottom of the old gulley, and "weld" the dirt back together. Important thing, if you put rock in it, and later find you will need the bull dozer to fix it properly, that damn rock will be all over the new respaped waterway.
