Central PA
I'm all for it. Everybody wants everybody else's handouts to be cut but not theirs. It's a 2 way street and in the long run we're all better off with less government control. Crop insurance is fine but it should be paid for by the farmer not the taxpayer. Without subsidized crop insurance most guys, myself included, can't handle the risk of putting all their eggs in the corn/bean basket. I think that's a good thing because it would lead to more diversity. Yes, national yields of energy and protein would be lower with more sorghum, barley, field peas, or whatever replacing some of our corn/bean acres. But lower yields mean higher prices not to mention it's nice having the workload spread out more.
