Just east of the big mountain | Reading the replies of some of the "farmers" puzzle me. There are plenty of programs that could be eliminated. I always read about CRP, So far as I know you are unable to sign any new acres into CRP. The multi peril crop insurance should stay in place but there should be limits and fraud should be dealt with severely and those committing it should go to prison. There is a great deal of fraud not just with farmers but many insurance agent are involved also.
The safety net is needed, just ask the farmers in the wheat areas of Colorado, Kansas, Wyoming, Oklahoma and Texas. It looks pretty bad for folks in those areas this year. They had good crops last year but the price sucked. I note there is always a bunch of "farmers" that may farm under 160 acres that do most of the bitching.
