Missouri | When I did it, the parts that were indispensable were some bushings left over from Kinze planters. There is a bushing on them with an I.D. that is a perfect fit over a 3/8" bolt. They're about 1.75 inches long, and make a great way of taking up space on a long bolt. Think a long stack of washers, but if the stack of washers was solid. I'll attach a picture from the parts book, they're number GD11259. (key # 3 in the attached diagram)
I think I put 2 of those on each of a long bolt, then a nut, then put the steering column plastic cover on over those bolts. The spacers allowed me to tighten down the bolts, but left enough threads standing above the nut that they effectively became mounting studs. Then I bolted the universal bracket to it. I wish I had taken pictures. WAIT. I just found a picture.
