Subject: Tablet with good cell reception?

Central Illinois
Currently have an Andriod (Nexus 9) on Verizon dayta plan. About the only way to stay connected when in a tractor or combine in the field is to leave it on the cab roof. Will lose signal and not reconnect when you turn at field edges regardless of which direction your heading. Had hoped to use it for a "mobile hotspot" for DigiFarm but doubt it will work. Are some tablets inherently better recievers? Would an i-Pad be the best ? Maybe I am just to far away from any major cities and Interstates to have good reception? My wife's i-Phone is on a different carrier and seems to have no problem connecting to Weather apps while riding with me. Never really try to connect for dayta streaming on her account.
