True, there can be a lot of dust from the road. But I am guessing Dave9110 can see a lot of dirt in the snow on the windward side of the road too, meaning the dirt came from the field across the way. I saw some similar drifts like Dave's pic just this morning, and it was obviously from the chiseled field, not road dust. I think most under estimate how much soil moves over time. I can show you many old cement corner posts (4x4x4) which are sticking 24" up out of the ground. Did they get pushed up by frost? Or did the soil erode away? Terry Taylor put a good pic up a while back showing a fence that was put in many years ago when he was a young dude, and is almost buried now from silt trapped up to it. This spring past we had quite a few windy days. The day of this corn planting pic was particularly windy. Many of the neighbors planting or working ground, you could not even SEE their equipment, just the huge ball of dust moving around. Shoot, I don't think my soil even knew the wind was blowing that day.....
