South Georgia | As y'all know, I successfully cloned my office computer hard drive to a SSD a few weeks ago, and it works great. So good that I did the same for my laptop at home, with similarly amazing results.
So I have two leftover 'old fashioned' hard drives with Windows on them. This is a theoretical question, I'm not planning to do this, but what's to keep somebody from taking a legitimate copy of Windows and just cloning a bazillion copies of it, and not having to buy it for another computer? I mean, I assume I could take my old hard drives and stick them in a computer and they would work just the same as they were working before, wouldn't they? Surely it's not that easy.
As I said, I'm not planning to do that, but I just thought that the whole cloning thing was entirely too easy, once I figured it out, and I can't believe that Microsoft would let it be that easy to copy their OS to a different unlicensed computer.
