SE SD | Some years ago, when heifers top dollar was $1200. My son was just starting
FFA. Him and I went to the cow sale in Madison SD.
He had his eye on some red angus heifers from a purebred breeder.
He looked them over real well in the out side pen and had two picked out.
When they came in the ring with four pen mates, Wayne announced gate cut.
I stepped down to the ring, short conversation with Chip, he runs the show, explained
son in ffa, wants a certain two bla bla bla.
He assured me they would sort the two out if he got the bid.
Son paid $1650 for the heifers, topped the sale. The kid just wouldn't stop bidding :)
Well the circus started when they tried to ring sort. Round and around they went.
After a valiant try, the auctioneer pointed at ME, and announced,
Turn'em out.........Dad'll take the rest :0
Holy crap!!!!!! That made the check book pucker :)
In the end.... Those were some of the best cows we've ever owned :)
