The farm where I keep my dry cows and heifers has a very low yielding well. I use a tile drain to help the well out. Would like to get away from that. The barn has a old milking parlor pit in it. The pit is 32 inches deep 20 foot long and 6 foot wide. It’s cement blocks
No cracks could I build a cover for the pit pump water into it at a slow rate on a float to shut the pump off.
Than pump out to water the cattle. Sort off like a cistran.

I think I'd get a 2,500 gal plastic tank to hold water before I messed around with what you are proposing. A new one would last a long time.

I'd vote that way too.
