Well, except it is science fiction as it hasn't happened. The reality is it would be far from trivial to hack the cars, override any of their internal safety nannies and guide them to drive into a stationary object. The chance of success is very slim to pull off that sort of hat trick. Of course I'm not saying that it is impossible, but it is not feasible; especially when they're more than capable of finding physical people who are willing to pilot a vehicle to their certain death.
At the moment, the cars aren't really capable of even driving themselves to get onto a highway; do you really think a hacker is going to be capable of developing and injecting an auto-pilot that rivals what the manufacturer has been working on for years? | |
