Hennepin, IL | Wolfwood raises a valid point, but like you I'm leery of using it to variable rate, but that seems to be what they're promoting it as. What it also does is measure not only absolute moisture in furrow, but how consistent that moisture actually is. Similar to when downforce sensors were added to a planter for the first time. Before if you checked down pressure and depth in a few places at best and called the whole field good. Same thing now with smart firmer, it allows you to check moisture, temperature, and residue continuously throughout the field. | |
