Subject: Anyone regret redoing a old muscle car?

Ohio
I have an opportunity to get my hands on a old GTO. Good shape body wise but would need repainted, interior work and would probably do some motor work to it. It has some sentimental value. I would probably have to hire a lot of this done. I no it would be a longer process. Would probably take a few years. I would do it as I get a little extra cash here and there, but it’s a car that I would keep for forever. Anyone ever do something like this and regret it? I have no clue money wise what I will have in it. I can easily see $15,000 plus but it’s a car that would be worth more than that if done right, and if I keep it for forever, that money invested won’t seem so bad. Any thoughts? Sorry for being a little broad, but I want to buy to first before I start sharing pictures and any more info. Thanks.
