Subject: RE: Optimum striptill speed

NECIL
Fall, JD 8335R, 12 row Twin Diamond Strip-Cat, just making strips running approx 8-9” deep. Pulling it at 6.3-6.7 mph. Fall stripping corn stalks and bean stubble.

Spring, JD 8335R, 16 row Yetter freshener bar, running 2-3” deep at 8 mph. Freshening strips and putting down 28% and thiosulphate. Any faster and it throws soil out of strips and any slower and the baskets will pack with soil.

Edit to add, more than enough tractor for fall bar. Limiting factor in fall speed is ability of tractor and GPS to maintain a straight line. Have pulled spring bar with an 8270R and could probably go smaller.
