n.c.iowa | Well here is what i’d Recommend.
Found ourselves in the same position several years ago,(actually a few bunches of several years). Pulled up all the old green carpet in the living room, dining room, hall way, and bedroom.
Everything we believe was oak flooring that was finished, the dining room though had linoleum, then possibly asbestos tile under that
It was glued down with some kind of tar based adhesive. Boy was that a bitch getting that up.
So we ended up sanding the the dining room and refinishing it, the other floor areas were good enough to not have to mess with them. So after 20 some years, and five kids, some areas of the floor look kinda rough.
The technology in vinyl and hardwood flooring wasn’t then as it is now, if I had to do it all over again I would do the manufactured flooring.
Also another option with manufactured floor is that a lot of the manufacturers have a provision for installing in floor heat. | |
