3-10 years ago many drones were built by hobbyists and had an autopilot that was open source (most common was called pixhawk/APM. Made by 3DR). The autopilot could be programmed for air and ground based drones. A guy programmed one of these up in Canada for a tractor. He hooked up his grain cart and made an autonomous grain kart where he would “send a mission” to the “rover” (tractor) and tell it to come to the combine.
