| The knife is mounted to widen the slot made by the flat plow coulter by being in line with it and the pairs were 2-1/4" off the row cut by the original planter opener discs. That was for planting corn after beans. I took the knives off for planting beans after corn but left the flat coulters there to cut the corn stover (and bean stover when planting corn) so the Dawn Trash Whippers could clean the row good and prevent hair pinning of the stover or stems by the main opening disks. A concept taught to me by Jim from Dawn at various farm shows.
