Subject: RE: Banding Urea in cotton rows

Central Alabama
We put 5-10 gal of 28-0-0-5s with a quart of zinc at planting with no problems. This year was tough on cotton early. Cotton seemed to be a month behind all year with little root growth. By the time it kicked off growing it had depleted the nutrients in the root zone and took a while to grow out of that zone. We sidedressed in June but seemed cotton wasn't picking it up so we dribble some next to row with hoods. This help to carry it till roots could reach the sidedress band. With this said cotton does not require a lot of early nitrogen. Your plan sounds okay to me some years it will help some it would't matter.
