Subject: No-till Guys.... Who, What, When, and Why

Bon Homme County, South Dakota
Was at the wife's work Christmas party last night and sat next to one of my high school classmates father. We started to talk about how everything was going and what was new. He asked if I have ever thought about going to No-Till. After talking with him about it for about 30 minutes he really had me thinking hard. So I have a few questions for you No-Till guys.

So let me here it..... Who, What, When, and Why did you decide to change to No-till.... I know you guys get bashed a lot on here by guys who hate No-tillers, but I would like to hear your story. A few of the points he brought up are as followed and was hoping you guys could validate them for me and explain any other positives of No-Till.

less compaction of soils
more moisture kept in soil
Save money on fuel (which I already could see how)
Better weed control which he said was due to not replanting the weed seed when disking

I would say less than 5-10 percent of land farmed around us in No-till..
thanks
