On the early autosteers I think you would be correct, but seems like these guidance companies have come a long way and as long as you input the correct measurements they work just fine. I've seen this on 4wd tractors used to have the receiver all the way up on the nose for it to drive decent now I see them mounted on the back of the cab and drive amazing.
