Frytown, Iowa | With cover crops becoming more popular around here, rye is being thrown in with the dry fertilizer and spread in the fall. The coop sees a better pattern if they cut their spread in half and overlap for a more uniform pattern. Their pattern does look good by doing this, and an extra pass does not show in application. The fert price does not change with or without the rye/extra pass.
If I wanted to do this myself but not wanting to spread on 30' like the coop, would an airmax/air boom work better? is the added cost and higher maintenance of the boom worth it over the spreader?
Are air booms higher maintenance than dry spreaders?
