Subject: RE: Which do you watch?

Middlesex County, Ontario
I always fly by the screen unless its around a silo or tree or something. If its high enough to avoid obstacles then I trust the drone and fly by the screen. I can fly over 400 acres from the back deck in a patio chair while having a coffee.

I've lost video feed a pile of times due to distance. Usually at 0.9 miles or so.

Two important things to note:
1. You lose video feed before you lose RC control.
2. Your range is better the higher up you are.

If I know I'm pushing the range then I'll fly out at an altitude of a couple hundred feet. If I lose video feed then I'll stop moving forward and just fly straight up. The video feed will come back.

These drones are so easy to fly, especially since they just hover when you release the sticks. Planes are harder. The golden rule of learning to fly an RC aircraft is "get it at least 2 mistakes high and keep it there."
