Davenport Washington | I have a very tired ddec3 engine 430/470 engine and instead of overhauling it can I swap in a 500 hp ddec4 it's a used take out. Mine is the gk and the 500 is the premium.

Eastern Arkansas | I am defiantly not an expert on this, but I did just build a harness to put an 8v92 ddec IV in a tractor. I know that the vehicle interface harness and power harness are the same. After looking at countless wiring diagrams they are all labeled ddec III/IV. Because of that I would think it would fit right in with no changing of the electronics. Maby someone that knows more than me will chime in now. Wiring diagrams are very prevelant on line. |

Davenport Washington | It's my understanding that the ddec4 is the replacement computer for the ddec3 but I don't know if there is programming required. |

Mount Vernon, WA | DDEC3 and DDEC4 are virtually identical. The primary difference is that the 4 has a faster internal processor and can be equipped with a few more features.
It should be a direct plug and play. The only potential hiccup is if they were programmed differently. You might find that certain options don't work the same as they used to. If possible, find someone with Detroit software who can look at and print out the configuration of each. |

Davenport Washington | That's what I was hoping for I would rather have the high hp torque engine. |
