Was in church today, and a couple of doctors where talking about their 401k's returning over 10% this year. Does that mean anything for inflation? Or better investments for them then farm land. Just asking.
Haven't heard back from the OP. So, in case he returns.......the doctors likely have their allocation set to some sort of balance between stocks/bonds. Looking at Vanguard Wellington (60/40 stks/bonds) shows around 12% gain for the year. They're most likely commenting about nominal returns. Real rate of return would be around 10% with inflation running ~2%.
That asset mix has had a steady rise since the housing crisis bottomed in 2009.
