| We run a small hay farm (300 acres) and a ranch (about 500 pairs), our oldest tractor broke down yet again. We’re in the market for a much newer tractor or a skidsteer to take its place. We haven’t had any skidsteers before and I’m not sure they are a good fit for us, so we’re considering all our options at this point. We are looking to spend around $35,000. We need to be able to stack 3x4x8 bails of grass hay (1,100 lbs each max) 5 high, unload 2,000 lbs pallets of lick tubs, dig post holes and run a bush hog. We are not mechanics and don’t want to be, so reliability is a big must and low cost of maintenance. What will fit better for our outfit a large skidsteer or smaller tractor? | |
