Subject: sighting in a gun

St.Clair Co. IL.
last week I sighted my two blk powder rifles, and slug shotgun for deer season, all have scopes on them.
I first sighted in at 100 yards. decent groups, but then out at 200 yards. it was dead on could not believe how many shots I put in the red.
My question is the two blk. powder rifles have 3x9 scopes and the slug gun has a 2x7 scope, I had all three cranked up to full power when sighting in, now am I making a mistake having the scopes cranked at full power at 100 yds.?
would I get better groups with the power turned down to say half?
Just wondering if I'm making a mistake because it may be less forgiving.
Bob
sorry I thought I was in the AG. talk site for this post.
