Southern Indiana | I think I may have had an experience with PI. The last 18 calves I bought were all from 1 farm, weaned and 2 rounds of shots. The guy came over and sat down and thanked me for buying his calves which look to be Angus simmental. 45 days weaned, long-range, but don't remember the shots. Felt really good on the way home but after about 2 weeks they started getting sick. Get droopy and runny nose. 1st one was down and wouldn't get up. Gave him baytril and banamine and was up in an hour. Long story short over half of these 18 have had to treat, most more than once. Vet looked at the 8 I had up in the sick pen and said micoplasm. Gave them excede and they seem to be all straightened out now. Have had no problem with the other cattle I'd purchased the week before. Of 55 head total 11 of the 18 got sick and none of the rest. Should I try to contact the producer or just forget it and move on? He had a bunch of heifers that went somewhere else.
