Subject: First time injecting manure, how deep?

I'm in the position to get free dairy liquid manure from the neighbor. One guy says he will inject it at 3-4" deep with knives. The other guy says he uses 16" sweeps and puts it in the ground about 8-10" deep. I'm thinking 3-4" might have some loss. What is standard practice for depth of manure injection? Thanks to any replies.
