For those of us that cannot imagine not planting our beans in green rye, with the planting window for rye closing/closed, might I suggest you get ready to commit to a frost seeding. This would get some seed to soil contact with the assumption that rye would not germinate until spring. 50-60# of rye with 15# oats can provide an excellent environment for little beans. This will not be perfect but far better than leaving it bare.
