There are hundreds of miles of that style fence here. The rails will last longer than the wire holding it together. I have rebuilt fence built by my grandfather in the fifties reusing the same fence rails. As long as the cedar is off the ground it will not rot.
Lots of farms here where there is not enough dirt to put in a fence post.
