Coon Rapids,Iowa | I got out of farrowing in 97 due to PRRS and PRV and the fact that my youngest son was going to graduate from high school and go to college. I started buying feeder pigs to finish out. I contracted with a local buyer to sell them fat @ .18 and make $12.00 per head. I just about didn’t do it but thought at least I was going to make a profit. I just about got called a liar when I told my buddies that I just had sold hogs that day for .18 and they had just sold their hogs for .09. Needless to say, I had to buy the beer that night. One of the few times that I really lucked out and did the right thing.
