Greene County, Illinois | I remember it well, because the spring before, fat hogs were $70 and old sows were $60. I told my wife I'd never seen sows and fats high at the same time, so I sold fats as they got ready and sold out of sows. I thought when hogs got lower, I would buy gilts, breed and get back in by the next spring. When fats got down to $8 that fall, I told her that didn't look quite the right time to get back in. Never had hogs since, and never missed them. |
