Missouri | IowaMark - 11/17/2017 07:18 Yep, I remember those days for sure. I put up a new 1200 head hog finisher in 1997 and had a lot of debt against it at that time. What saved my butt in that ordeal was I was in a program with Cargill that you bought their feeder pigs, fed their feed then sell the fat hogs back to them with a sales price that should’ve brought you a profit. It wasn’t a get quick program but it did pay the bills and I never lost any money during those ridiculously low cash hog prices. I knew of guys that sold during that timeframe that ended up getting out of hogs. Those were bad days for hog producers.
