Alton, Ia | It's Q4, if you can breakeven this time of year you are doing well, or at least not lose more than a few dollars. Make a little dough in Q1 and Q3, and hopefully a bunch in Q2. That's if you're on a fixed price source, either bought or owning the source. If you're buying open market, then it's the sow unit or nursery carrying the profit swing.
And no, it doesn't work to only sell hogs in Q2, hogs don't keep well. | |
