Ideally you'd have the battery if not the whole thing in a warmer spot (vehicle, pocket?) until the last minute.
The battery rapidly generates heat once it is running, it would be wise not to do anything too ambitious when it's well below freezing,  but they seem to be fine down to at least -10C.
