Subject: Anyone Created Their Own Website????

Central Western VA Mountains
Thinking about creating a website to help in the marketing of our hay and to post (for lack of a better word) blog entries of what we are up to, i.e. planting a field, cutting, baling, anything of interest.

Anyone created a website - just starting to look into it myself.

Might do a Facebook page, but am leary of them for business purposes. We make and sell what I think is very good horse quality Timothy and Teff hay. Wading into the horse owner marker, most all of our customers have been great, but we've had a few nut cases too. I have complete control over website, not a face book page (read negative comments that are unfounded), so on that level, I'm leaning towards a website vs a Facebook page. OTOH, I sometimes think that a Facebook page, these days, might be more effective.

Any tips/how to guidelines, lessons learned creating your own website would be much appreciated. Also, how does one keep their webpage secure from hacking?

Thanks!
