But seriously, guys, this is a common problem and can lead to greater and more difficult marital problems.

Try the practice of "reflective listening" It involves keeping your mouth shut for a little bit, listening to the other person while occasionally speaking a key word or paraphrasing a conveyed idea. Sometimes it is important to be heard.

And you might be surprised! I know that I frequently am, when I can slow down and get the message. There's many a time when I think later on, "I am glad that she told me that!"


You mean the nod and repeat. Nod your head and repeat the last 2-3 words said, works great they really think you are listening.
