Subject: RE: Corn/Soybeans on the GMO fringe

Manitoba
I farm in southern Manitoba where we have been growing corn and beans since 2007/8. Most farmers here just started in the last few years. The yields have been increasing really fast due to breeding and genetics. Soybeans have really taken off here mostly because they are easy to grow, a good fit for our rotation and yields have been been pretty good. Corn growth has been much slower due to the huge capital investme required. We have outyielded the us national average twice now and may again this year with corn. Canola is also a gmo and it's acres on our farm at least have been holding steady. Mostly wheat that has been removed from the rotation.
