Agree to look and tighten or fix what is broken.

I have a 630F. I was having problems with doing a good job cutting and went through my owner's manual looking for suggestions. It does explain the alignment procedure for the drive. This was not my problem but the explanation might help you.

I was thinking that my sickle was not in "register" but have since learned that the sickle stroke does not go from center to center of the guards before it reverses direction. Adjusting the "register" was a procedure that is done on older hay cutting devices but is not adjustable on the 6xx series heads.

Even after replacing several guards, adjusting the hold downs etc. my cutting did not improve. What I harvested early this week still did a rough job. When I switched fields mid Wednesday, the cutting situation improved dramatically since this field did not have those wimpy green beans. However, that field and the next had spots of White mold which hurt the already weak yield considerably.

In 40 years of combining, this was my first experience with White Mold. It was common to see the yield change from a somewhat acceptable value to about half in a short distance. At times the black dust coming off the combine made it difficult to see. Unloading on the go needed to be done on an upwind pass.

With luck I may finish today. Hopefully the corn will be a better situation.
