It will bolt on and work, but the flat iron piece that the tie rod and ram anchor to is much wider on 1979 and newer.
There was a few different part numbers based on tire height. the 11L16s on Ms got the tall spindles, and the 14Lx16.1s and I think 11.00x16 got the short. 11L was not available on the L series, just the M.
