Subject: Trimble TMX with EZ-steer, is external power cable required?

Hi guys, I'm looking at setting up a TMX I have here along with an EZ-steer in a harvester and am working out a second set of cables, along with extras that I will need (currently setup with an EZ-pilot in a tractor).

The two layouts I have seen show an external power lead for the EZ-steer (cable 12) and I was wondering if this is necessary or not, and why you would need to go down this path rather than plug back into the existing TM-200 harness (as per the other diagram)?

I will also be using our RTK correction (not shown in images).
