Southern MI | Certainly those that are locked into Deere will pay it, but I wonder what percentage of their customers fall into that category and what percent of the Ag market in general fall into that category? My very biased sample set shows only one nearby operator that would fall into the realm of locked into one OEM.
I presume if a large percentage of customers of any certain OEM were "locked in" we would not see the rise of ISObus and data portability initiatives.
A counter point would be that the recurring revenue would allow Deere to continually release a better quality software. My experience with them is they do a pretty good job with Software Quality. Rarely do I encounter a new software release that absolutely breaks a function. No software is perfect. Frankly IMO their software leads their hardware quality.... | |
