Like others said ,depends on income you want/need , if you are in high yield /high value crops and if you are debt free.......400 acres of decent soy/corn ground and no debt should give you a chance to net $100k +...........its just the last 10 yrs. or so when guys here could be full time "cash croppers" before they were 55+ , as most who did not have livestock or processing crops had off farm job for 30 yrs or more unless you inherited a lot of dirt....not everyone will agree but the last 10 yrs. have been a gravy train for many corn/soy guys-unbelieveable amount of new equipment,bins, big new houses ,shops,ect.......personally "here" 600 acres of decent ground paid for would give you a great living and lots of vacation time
