CIL
More and more guys around here start off planting both at the same time. Will be interesting to see how it pencils over the next few years if demand keeps growing for beans. We definitely see better yields from our earlier beans all things being equal.

Negative:
A cold rain is more likely on earlier planted beans, which could slow them down and make them more susceptible to herbicide/treatment damage (like a PPO preplant combined with ilevo).
Longer window for dealing with tough weeds.
Could put the sprayer operator in a pinch if corn and beans are both ready to spray at the same time.

Positive:
Could open your options up to a broader range of maturities.
Better yields.

I think more guys will be doing this in the future and with the price of older planters dropping like a rock, it's easy to put together a dedicated bean planter for not much money. The hard part for us is the labor force to keep up with it. If you can, I'd do it in the heartbeat.
