| I am continuing to peruse tractors for sale in an effort to get the setup I want, however, as I have discussed trade in values with different dealers, I am frustrated as they are offering $15-20,000 less than my minimum expectation for trade in value on either one of my machines. On top of that they ask about $10-20,000 more than what I think is fair value on the machine they are selling. In the end the difference is huge. And these are 100 hp tractors, so a $20,000 difference is 30-50% of the total cost! So, I am wondering what you guys do to get the trade ins that you would expect, or are at least acceptable. I understand having to pay a few thousand for a newer machine, but a slap in the face for a quality trade in is another story. Where do you go to get the best value, and is there anything that you can leverage to get the dealer to come up substantially? I can't imagine that everyone accepts these low offers or else most farmers would be broke and selling out... | |
