| I'm not to that point yet, but "here" there are plenty of opportunities for kids to participate in sports without joining the traveling teams and spending every spare moment and every spare nickel chasing kids all over the midwest every weekend. IMO a kid is either born with enough natural athleticism that you can shape him or her into an athlete or not, but that innate skill doesn't always show itself until later years. Overdoing it early on leads to burnout among the early developers and alienates the slower developers from sports prematurely. | |
