| It's all relative. They make naggers to handle the capacity better too but feedout dictates a lot of it. For us it's man power. I fill 12 foot bags with Kelly Ryan bagger and can unload in high. We run 4 wagons on a 6 row new holland and rarely does it wait unless we are cutting right next to the bag. Then we only use 3 wagons and get along fine. Could we chop faster into a pile, probably but would take at least 3 more men and a tractor for each of them to drive. I own the chopper myself and really don't care if it takes me 2 more hours to get the job done into a bag where I don't have to deal with throwing sidewalls for a day afterwards. That's another time spent not even mentioned. Everyone has what works for them. If I made more silage I'd prolly go that route. There is a tipping point where bags do get costly. I make 3500+ton of corn silage and 12' bags work better for me. | |
