All good points.

You're correct, Blocks work great if they can be targeted to specific zones. But that's kinda where the rub is, are we zoning for soil type, past management practices, drainage, fertility, etec.?

then can we be sure that the zone is actually where we think it is?

So if your confident that you are getting things in order in these respects, then blocks are the way to go.
