We go to Aldi when we can. I love the chocolate there. It's probably the best around. Smooth. They also have a great assortment of cheeses. We especially like to go there right before the holidays when they have a nice selection of cheeses, meats and crackers. Don't buy canned vegetables there. I find them pretty nasty compared to say, Del Monte, Hunts or other name brands- especially the mixed vegetables (they have potatoes in them!). Milk and dairy products are pretty cheap. Most everything there is made to look like, or sound similar to, other name brands. I read somewhere that everything they offer in their own brands go through quite a testing process before it hits the shelves. Supposedly Aldi was started by the brother of the guy who started Trader Joes (which I've never been to).
